Staying Positive When You Don’t Feel Like It

Staying Positive When You Don’t Feel Like It

Do you sometimes ask yourself, how can I be a more positive person, when I don’t feel like it? I often ask myself that question. Staying positive when you don’t feel like it, is not an easy task for everyone. Here’s what I discovered below in my blog post on Staying Positive When You Don’t Feel Like It.

Practice Self-awareness

How do you become more aware of your negative thoughts?

It’s so easy to get caught up in negative thoughts. Before you know it there’s a whole negative conversation going on in your head. You didn’t mean for it to happen, but it’s been heavily ingrained in you. But once you realize what’s happening, you can take steps to change it. This is self-awareness. Realizing that you have negative thoughts, helping yourself to change that thinking, and eventually positive thoughts will emerge!

Work on becoming a positive person

So how can you become a more positive person?

This has to be the number one question that everyone has asked themselves from time to time. Staying positive when you don’t feel like it, is not the easiest thing to do. The best way to do this is to train yourself to have positive thoughts available to counteract the negative. The way I work on staying positive (and believe me I am a work in progress!) is to think about all the things I have been blessed with. Thinking about all the things you have been blessed with goes a long way to bringing your mood up. Positive thinking takes work though. So don’t get discouraged if this doesn’t happen right away. You have to retrain your thoughts a little at a time, and the positive thoughts will come soon.

Put stickies up on the bathroom mirror with positive thoughts for self-confidence

How do you build up your self-confidence?

A world of sticky notes with messages of positive thinking is a great way to build your self-confidence. It really can put you in a better mood when you have positive messages to read each morning. Write uplifting positive messages on your sticky notes, and they can really lift your mood up. And all you need to do is go to your bathroom mirror, or refrigerator in the kitchen to read them!

Research positive messages for screensavers on your computer

How do you find positive messages?

Search Google for quote websites, or positive quotes, et cetera, and you will find a plethora of ideas and quotes that you can download and save to your computer. I have a folder on my desktop with positive quotes in it, that I use for screensavers on my desktop computer. This way if you are on your computer every day, you will be sure to read the positive message that is sure to help lift you up!

Listen To Music

What kind of music should you listen to in order to become positive?

When you seem to be in a negative kind of mood, sometimes you don’t really think music will help. But trust me, it really does! Most any kind of music you decide to listen to really lifts up your mood. Especially if you find some music you can really sing along to! Nothing wrong with belting out a tune to put you in a better mode of positive thinking! And what the heck! Add some dance moves to that singing, and your positivity will ring out!

Surround Yourself with Positive People

How do you surround yourself with positive people?

Sometimes this is not an easy task, but in time, it can happen. Sometimes you find that the people you are surrounding yourself with, are always talking negatively. The best way to separate yourself from them is to do it gradually. Take your sights in a different direction. Look for people who are on the road to success. These people have positive attitudes and talk about what they see in their futures. Being around a positive person can really lift your mood, and steer you in a more positive direction, as well as positive thinking.

Read Positive Books

What kinds of positive books do you find to read?

Find books that are focused on self-improvement or a positive story of success. These kinds of books are always uplifting. They can really put you in a better mood when there is a positive outcome. Reading about someone else’s success is a good message to always stay positive and have a positive attitude for success. Positive stories always send the message that you have the power to change your way of thinking.

Develop a Positive Mantra

How do you go about developing a positive mantra?

Meditating is a great way to positive thinking. Develop a positive mantra to recite during meditation, and meditate on it at least 10 minutes each day. Develop a phrase that you repeat over and over again. A phrase that is positive to help you go in that direction. Positive mantras during meditation are a great way to clear your head and empty out all those negative thoughts.

Bring Laughter To Yourself at the End of Each Day

How do you find something to laugh about?

We’ve all heard the phrase “Laughter is the best medicine” and it really is when you think about it. Usually, for me, it’s going through programs I have recorded on my DV-R. I find just one half-hour show to watch and laugh out loud for those few minutes. It really helps you to leave all your worries behind for the day, and sleep better as well.

Practice Gratitude

What if you cannot think of anything to be grateful for?

We can always find something to be grateful for in our lives, no matter what we’re going through. Even though you may be going through a storm in your life, you can always be grateful for what you do have. Being grateful for the things you have in your life, such as your spouse, your kids, a roof over your head, food in your cupboards, et cetera. These are the things we have to be grateful for, among others. So practice being thankful for the things you do have, and don’t dwell on what you don’t.

Positivity is your key to success

Staying positive when you don’t feel like it, isn’t always easy. But it will come eventually when you practice each day. And with a little laughter at the end of the day, you’re already ahead of the game. So put some positive thoughts into each day, and you’ll feel more confident and ready to tackle the day! Try it, and you’ll be surprised at how much better you’ll feel when you think positive!
